In the latest edition of The Engel Angle, Mac does a throughline of the Dallas Cowboys head coaching job, which is now open after Mike McCarthy and team owner Jerry Jones could not come to an agreement about much of anything. Former Cowboys quarterback Troy Aikman said on ESPN that he does not believe the Cowboys head coaching job is "coveted," for the obvious reason: Jerry Jones. Aikman has a point, but despite the many peculiar particulars of the job, the Dallas Cowboys are still the most visible team in North America's most visible pro sports league.

Engel Angle: Thaddeus Matula

The SMU alum and Dallas resident unknowingly became one of the key figures in the return of the Mustangs' football program to national relevance. In 2010, Matula directed the ESPN 30 for 30 documentary, "Pony Excess," the story of the SMU football team's infamous Death Penalty. SMU is currently the surprise of the entire college football season having been invited to the 2024 college football playoff. The award-winning filmmaker spoke to Mac about the film, among other topics.
